GS1 Germany Purchases 9 Copies of AccuBarcode Pro

Among other recent orders, an order of 9 copies of AccuBarcode Pro for Windows placed by GS1 Germany GmbH was received on Friday, February the 3rd. The order was processed immediately and a package was shipped out by the next business day through USPS International Priority from our New Jersey office. It is usually not necessary to have a CD package shipped since the best way getting the software is downloading the demo from our website and activating it by using a given activation number. However, we made this delivery for GS1 Germany GmbH at the customer's request.

GS1 postponed DataBar Sunrise to 2011

GS1 postponed DataBar Sunrise date from Jan 1st, 2010 to Jan 1st, 2011, when all the retailers should adopt DataBar barcode at their POS and coupon processing. Although it will become mandatory in 2014, retailers will start sooner than later. Adopting Databar might be easy for manufacturers, but for retailers it will be hectic and time and resource consuming. They have to replace their cheap scanners with expensive scanners that scan DataBar barcodes, which can add up to their total expense. They also have to update the current software and database in their POS systems.

European organization lends a hand to small businesses trying to adopt RFID

Managed by UEAPME, the European craft and SME employers’ organisation, the “RFID-ROI-SME” project will deploy and coordinate eight pilots in multiple sectors across six European countries.

GS1 DataBar™ Coupon Code Postponed?

The August 11, 2009 recommendation by the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) on behalf of the Joint Industry Coupon Committee (JICC) that the final phase of implementation of GS1 DataBar for Coupon Codes be delayed one year, until January 1, 2011, may sound like a serious blow to GS1's plans for GS1 DataBar implementation. And since GS1 DataBar is key to using bar codes to identify loose produce, some have begun to wonder whether it is still on track.
